Come and celebrate European Heritage Open Day as Larne Museum and Arts Centre brings characters from Larne’s history to life. Members of the Larne and District Historical society will lead people through the town where they are sure to meet and greet characters from Larne’s historic past. Beach clean up day in Carnfunnock Bay

As part of the Marine Conservation Society’s Beachwatch 2010, join staff as they undertake a clean-up and litter survey of the shoreline in Carnfunnock Bay and Tweed’s Port. We’ll provide the litter picks, bin bags and gloves – all you need to bring is yourself! Wear suitable clothing and footwear. Meet at Carnfunnock Visitor Centre, light refreshments afterwards. This is a free event.

Castlerock Walkfest 2010

Castlerock
Charges – challenge walk - £7.50 per day / £10 for 2 days - Pay on the day

The Walkfest is being organised by the Castlerock Community Association. The guided walks will be based in the village and using the AONB Binevenagh as the focus. This is a most dramatic and unspoilt area of hill, moor, forest, beach and home to the famous Downhill Castle and Musssenden Temple.

Saturday and Sunday September 18th and 19th, 2010 Registration – from 9 am in the Peter Thompson Hall, Castlerock

Challenge walk of 4 / 5 hours – departs 10 am

Moderate walk of 2 /3 hours – departs 11 am

Transport will be provided to and from the Peter Thompson Hall to the start and finish of the walks.

All walks are guided. Sorry no dogs on the walks.

The walks are for those of reasonable fitness. Walkers to wear appropriate clothing. Guides have discretion to change the route depending on weather conditions.

Light refreshments will be provided after the walks as well as a chance to view local children’s photographs of Binevenagh.

The walks:

Moderate on Sat – through glen /forest and downhill domain

Moderate on Sun – beach / Bann estuary / small roads

Challenging – both days will be hill walking / mixed terrain – please bring packed lunch

On the Saturday there will be a walk suitable for families. ALL WALKS WILL BE GUIDED AND IN GROUPS.

If you got stranded in the woods, would you know how to find enough food to survive? Come along for a guided walk led by the Northern Ireland Bushcraft Association where they will point out and discuss some of the wild foods growing in the grounds of Carnfunnock

Fungus Foray

Join Carnfunnock staff and Debbie Nelson of the NI Fungus Group on a guided walk around the grounds of Carnfunnock where she will point out and talk about the various species of fungi growing in the Park. Wear suitable clothing and footwear. Please note the amount of fungi found is dependant of weather conditions. This is a free event.
This is a delightful tale all about magic and the power of believing.
The show features amazing special effects, a live band, magic, circus, dance, illusion and lots more! Suitable for ages 4+.
Family Show on Wednesday 29th September at 7.30pm. School shows on Thursday 30 September at 10.00am and 12.00 noon.
