Binevenagh AONB photographs will be exhibited in the library at Limavady Borough Council for 2 weeks from Monday 10th August.

Over eighty local school children took part in the exciting new photography project to raise awareness of the Binevenagh Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).  The pupils visited a range of local sites, including the lake and forest of Binevenagh, the stunning views from Gortmore, the built heritage of Downhill and with help from biodiversity officers, recreation and tourism officers, and a professional photographer, took photographs under the theme of valuing the environment.  Binevenagh AONB was designated in 2006.

Children from Hezlett PS, Ballyhackett PS, Macosquin PS, St Aidan’s PS Magilligan, St Anthony’s PS Aghanloo and Bellarena PS took part in workshops to learn about the unique heritage of the areas and the criteria for achieving AONB status.

The children’s images will be used in a variety of publications and promotional materials that will be available from Tourist Information Centres, schools and libraries throughout the region.
