The European Day of Tourism is on Thursday 8th October, and this day is being celebrated in Brussels when major European players involved in tourism will come together for a conference

European Tourism Day - Thursday 8th October

The 'European Tourism Day' and the European Tourism Forum will be held on 8th and 9th October 2009 at the Gold Hall of the 'Square Brussels Meeting Centre', Rue du Monts des Arts, Brussels. During the events, local and regional authorities, policy officers and leader projects will meet to discuss on the actual situation of tourism, but also to reveal their recipes for an improvement of European tourism. European Tourism Day's theme will be ''The Role of Networking in Developing European Sustainable Tourism''. European Tourism Forum's theme will be ''EU Tourism and the Economic Downturn: New Opportunities for a Sustainable and Prosperous Future?''.  This event will highlight the importance of sustainable tourism in Europe as well as identifying the need for joined up thinking in relation to tourism.
