Burnet Moth on Knapweed Flower

The Causeway Coast and Glens has a wealth of wildlife and important habitats and this is reflected in the large number of nature reserves and protected sites within the area. The wider countryside and farmed landscape has been created through the low intensity farming practices of the last 5000 years but has still managed to retain a rich biodiversity.

The main habitats found within the Causeway Coast and Glens are described below. For further, more detailed information on individual habitats and species, visit Habitas, the Ulster Museum website.
