20 years of the Causeway Coast
The Causeway Coast celebrated the 20th anniversary of the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty designation in 2009. As part of the celebrations the Causeway Coast & Glens Heritage Trust hosted the Picture This! schools photography project with 6 primary schools in the Causeway Coast AONB area and the Residents Association of Portballintrae. The project was part funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The aim of the project is to raise awareness of the unique natural, cultural and built heritage of the Causeway Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Picture this! Portballintrae - Then & Now
Portballintrae based heritage & tourism company Awakin delivered a short project with the Portballintrae Residents' Association and Bushmills Primary School, on behalf of the Causeway Coast & Glens Heritage Trust to celebrate 20 years of the AONB. The pupils and residents received expert photo tuition from renowned local photographer Arthur Ward as well as being trained as young historians by the Awakin team. The pupils and members of the Resident's Association were encouraged to share and discuss their photographs, memories and stories of the area.
